Iwami Ginzan is located in Shimane Prefecture,

It is said to be the largest silver mine in Japan, which was at its peak from the late postwar period to the early Edo period.

The closed silver mine is operating as a leisure facility, and there are some places where you can tour.

The interior of the mine is very cold because it's made by digging a mountain.

When I visited, it was also used as a storage for sake and soy sauce by taking advantage of the cold temperature 🍶

There are many new machines such as heavy machinery now,

At that time, it was a lot of hard work because the digging was done by hand.
