The color of silver changes?
"Silver turns black"
Have you ever heard of this?
Such a phrase is included in aiko's lyrics.
"The silver ring turned black"
The color of silver changes if it is not cleaned.
There are many causes of this blackening
The color of the top layer changes due to the reaction with the components in the air or water.
Silver → Light brown → Blue → Dark brown → Black
It will change in this order.
The color may change even with chlorine-based bleaching detergent used for laundry,
sweat and hot springs.
When the color changes, you may be a little disappointed...
But, no ploblem!
Even if the color changes, it will return to it's original beautiful color if you care of it.
What I often do when I think,
"Is the color beginning to change a little?"
・ Put sodium bicarbonate and aluminum foil crushed into a small ball in a non-metal cup.
Then pour boiling water (about 80℃).
Then, the color (dirt) will be transferred to the aluminum foil!
General care is
・ Polish with a silver polish cloth sold at a shop such as 「Hands」
・ Make a mixture of sodium bicarbonate and water into a paste, put it on a cloth and polish it. Rinse with water.
・ Put hot water and vinegar in a container and soak it until it is clean. Rinse with water.
And so on.
